What Captures Your Curiosity? What Energizes You?
Your interests are more than hobbies—they’re clues.
They reveal what excites you, where you feel most alive, and what paths might bring you joy and meaning.
The RIASEC model, developed by psychologist John Holland, gives you a simple, research-based framework to explore your natural preferences—and how they might shape your direction in school, work, and life.
RIASEC stands for six broad interest areas, each representing different ways people like to work, solve problems, and engage with the world:
Realistic – Hands-on, practical, working with tools, technology, or nature
Investigative – Analytical, curious, drawn to research, logic, and ideas
Artistic – Creative, expressive, prefers flexibility and innovation
Social – Collaborative, empathetic, thrives on helping and connecting with others
Enterprising – Persuasive, ambitious, enjoys leading and taking initiative
Conventional – Organized, detail-oriented, values structure and systems
Most people resonate with two or three dominant types—and those combinations can point toward environments, roles, or learning paths that feel like a natural fit.
This reflective self-assessment will guide you through prompts related to all six RIASEC types. There are no right or wrong answers—only insightful ones.
You’ll explore:
What kinds of activities naturally energize you
How you prefer to work, learn, and create
Where your motivation and strengths show up most
When you understand your interests, you don’t limit your options—you expand them.
You gain language for describing what excites you
You uncover patterns that guide future choices
You feel more confident choosing study paths, careers, and roles that fit
Whether you’re choosing a major, exploring a career pivot, or simply looking for more joy in what you do—RIASEC can help you get there.
Take the RIASEC reflection now and explore the patterns that make you uniquely you.

Review the 6 RIASEC Types
Read each interest area (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional). Each one includes a short description to help you get a feel for it.
Rate Your Interest (1–10)
Use the scale to rate how interested or drawn you are to each type:
1 = Not interested at all
10 = Extremely interested or excited by it
Be Honest
Don’t overthink it. Base your responses on what genuinely excites or motivates you—in school, hobbies, past jobs, or daily life.
Look for Patterns
A differentiated profile has clear peaks: your top 2–3 scores stand out. This often points to strong, focused interests—and can help you confidently narrow your options.
An undifferentiated profile has scores that are close together. This might suggest broad curiosity, flexibility, or a phase of exploration.
Both profiles are valid—there’s no “better” result. One gives focus. The other opens up more options.
